Daycare center Vaapukka and Roihuvuori elementary school are located in newly completed premises in Marjaniemi, Helsinki.
The design of the facilities emphasized diversity, flexibility and adaptable space units. The values of community, sustainable development and closeness to nature guided the design. The daycare center has a group focused on outdoor activities, which moves daily in the nature of the surrounding area. An inspiring learning and growth environment was created with natural materials and sustainable textile and color choices. The facilities and furniture form a unified whole and with their help, it has been possible to blur the boundaries between kindergarten and school.
